The Charles H. Harris papers consist of a single first draft manuscript entitled, A Mexican Family Empire; the latifundio of the Sanchez Navarro Family, 1765-1867. It describes the haciendas importance as an institution in both colonial and national Mexico using a topical approach. His study is based on the Sanchez Navarro papers located at the University of Texas at Austin. This family had the largest latifundio that ever existed in all of Latin America. The manuscript is arranged by chapters. Chapter seven on politics in the Colonial Period is missing.
